
Therese Devaney
Therese Devaney established Sligo Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in 2000.She qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist with 1st class honours from the University College Dublin in 1994. Therese Completed a MSc in Sports Medicine in Trinity College Dublin in 1995. She then began her career working in Beaumont Hospital Dublin,before following her roots back to Sligo where she has since been working in private practice.
Special interests
Her special interests are musculoskeletal physiotherapy and the management of sports injuries, including the correction of biomechanics and movement patterns in sport; management of the active young and skeletally immature; and the use of strength and conditioning in rehabilitation. She also has a role within the occupational health provision of a number of local manufacturing companies in both the management of musculoskeletal injuries and proactive, injury prevention plans.

Therese has previously provided physiotherapy to the following teams :
- Sligo Gaelic Football Inter county Teams at Senior,Junior,U21 & Minor Grades
- St Mary’s Gaelic Football Club Sligo – Senior County Champions 2015
- Drumcliff/Rosses Point Gaelic Football Club – Intermediate County Champions 2013
- The All-Ireland Winning Nicky Rackard Sligo Hurling Team of 2008
- Worked for many G.A.A and Soccer teams from club to inter-county level.
- National U16-U18 Girls Hockey Squads
- Involved in Pre-Participation Screening and Physiological Testing of Irish Elite Athletes as part of the PACE
- International Carding SchemeShe is a registered service provider to the PACE Athletes
Functional exercise and rehabilitation remain fundamental principles of her treatment and injury prevention strategies which are used alongside manual therapy. Therese recognises the importance of continued professional development and actively participates in post-graduate training.
Therese’s personal interests involve all Sports, reading and swimming, along with running around after five young kids!
